Meet the Author

I’m David Dean, the author of Treesong. Growing up on the almost treeless high plains of northwest Kansas, I planted my first tree with my father at five. Watching that tree grow filled me with a lifelong fascination for nature. My journey with trees continued when my family moved to a tree-laden farm in Iowa, where I witnessed the devastation of Dutch Elm Disease. These experiences and my time working for the US Forest Service in Montana have deeply influenced my storytelling.
